Reduce

The best step in reducing the waste of plastic is to not use it in the first place.  Generally this is best done by finding alternatives.   The most commonly brought to mind one may be canvas bags replacing plastic bags at supermarkets.  Needless to say reducing plastic use is important, it was responsible for 2M tonnes of Municipal Solid Waste in Australia in 2010[3], only 14% was recycled.  Plastic is the most common form of debris that impacts marine wildlife, responsible for near to 80% of incidents[4], of which 80% injure or are fatal. Posts in future that are tagged with Reduce will be promoting alternatives to common plastic goods.
