Plastic Bags

This is the example we all know, and not just from Tim Minchin’s work, the best example of bringing your own product (BYOP) working successfully.  Though ironically, Tim Minchin’s canvas bags are less environmentally friendly than a form of plastic bag.  Recycled Polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) bags are the most environmentally friendly form of shopping bag[1].  For reusable bags to make environmental sense, they will need to be used more than 23 times, this holds true for the green bags as well (the 2nd most environmental).  Best you make using a reusable bag a habit.  If absolutely forced to use a single-use recycling bag, you should use recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE), the thin plastic bags we’ve all come to expect.  They have the least impact on the environment.  Please use a reusable bag.
